I am incredibly proud of Sana this term as she has worked extremely hard in literacy. In this piece of writing, Sana struggled to think of appropriate words to use, but with some 1:1 work she was able to overcome her misconceptions. On the polished page, she has carefully considered her choice of vocabulary to produce an excellent standard of writing. Her handwriting is always of a high standard as she pays attention to her joining and letter formation. Sana should be really proud of what she has achieved this term.

Naba has worked tremendously hard in maths this term. She has challenged herself to tackle different arithmetic problems. In this lesson, she showed great perseverance as she found dividing numbers with remainders (as decimals) challenging, but through her determination she was able to learn from her mistakes and completed the task at a high standard. Naba should be extremely proud of herself!

Serfine is a potential greater depth writer, but makes basic mistakes in punctuation and grammar.  This will prevent her from achieving greater depth, regardless of her good ideas.  Here she had to work very hard on each paragraph, addressing the issues mentioned on the polishing page.  She was reminded of what metaphors and abstract nouns are and successfully incorporated those in improving her writing.    The manner in which she expanded her paragraphs and addressed the mentioned issues show that she is capable of achieving greater depth.

Sanam struggles with maths and lacks confidence.  She gained a lot of confidence in rounding, as can be seen in tasks 1 – 3, where she rounded off any given decimal number to the nearest whole number. She then struggled to apply that knowledge to rounding to the nearest 10th.  After some one-to-one and identifying her misconception, she managed to correct most of her mistakes.

I am really proud of how hard Emanuel has worked this half term in Maths, but particularly in this lesson. In this lesson, we were multiplying mixed number fractions by whole numbers which Emanuel found quite difficult as he did not know how to convert fractions into decimals. However, he was determined to succeed and by the end of the lesson he could convert basic fractions into decimals which allowed him to answer the questions. Even better, the next day in our Arithmetic test he proved he could do it independently as he answered both questions of this type correctly!
