Meet the SEND Team

Montem Academy Inclusion Team

Bethany Kershaw – Director of Inclusion, DSL and Senior Mental Health Lead

In my role as Director of Inclusion, I oversee the initial identification, provision, and teaching and learning for all children with SEND. I work alongside parents, specialist agencies and other professionals to create plans and targets for our children with SEND to ensure that they are able to progress and excel at Montem Academy. As Senior Mental Health Lead, I oversee the provision and support in place for children's wellbeing and lead on whole-school initiatives to promote good mental health.

Leanne Winsor – SENDCo

In my role as SEND teacher, I work closely with the SENDCo to support the initial identification, provision, and teaching and learning for all pupils with SEND. I work alongside class teachers and LPPs to create ambitious but achievable personalised plans and targets for our pupils with SEND. I am also able to deliver small group interventions across the school to ensure that all pupils at Montem Academy have the opportunity to be creative, feel valued and make progress towards their targets.

Amy Bishop - Child and Family Support Worker and Community Liaison Officer

As the Child and Family Support Worker, I am able to offer non-educational support to your child and your family in areas such as confidence building, healthy eating, parenting and life skills. My flexibility allows me to have time to meet for coffee and a chat at a time which suits you.  I also run coffee mornings every Wednesday morning from 9-10am in the Bungalow. Alternatively, you can leave a message with the school’s receptionist on 01753 528050.

Imtiaz Turab - Learning Mentor

In my role as Learning Mentor, I support children across the school both in class and on the playground. I carry out small group intervention sessions focusing on social skills, support children in class with their attention and listening as well as running before and after school activities.

Satwinder Chaggar and Gurbax Tiwana - Speech and Language LPPs

As Speech and Language LPPs, we work with children who have speech and language difficulties; following therapy plans and working on the specific targets. We support children both in and out of class to help the children to put their learning into practice in a real-life context.

SEND LPPs

In our role as SEND LPPs, we offer additional support to children with SEND. We work 1:1 and in small groups, both in the classroom and on the playground to ensure that all children, regardless of their needs, are able to access all of the opportunities on offer to them at Montem Academy.
