Pupil Premium Strategy
Pupil Premium is funding given to schools to help to support disadvantaged students, and to help to close the gap in attainment between these students and their peers. It is allocated to schools for every student who has been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, and for Children Looked After and children of Service Personnel. The Government believes that the PPG is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between these children and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
During the academic year 2022-2023 Montem Academy received £315,000 in Pupil Premium. We looked at projects that we found to have previously had impact on pupil outcomes and also introduced a number of new initiatives.
During the academic year 2023-2024, Montem Academy will receive £295,000 in Pupil Premium Funding.
Our Aims
At Montem Academy, we strongly believe that high quality first teaching is paramount to the achievement of all pupils.
Our aim is to ensure that disadvantaged pupils are provided with every opportunity to achieve as well as their peers and to reach age related expectations.
Pupil Premium Grant funding will be used to provide provision for:

Small group teaching with specialist teachers
- One to one interventions focusing on the specific barriers and gaps of each child
- After school booster clubs
- Enrichment sessions
- Personal Development sessions and clubs
- Raising aspirations activities and trips
- Creating positive learning partnerships with parents
Pupil Premium Eligibility
All pupils in Reception, years 1 and 2 now receive a free school lunch, however it is very important that those children eligible for Pupil Premium funding claim this additional support by letting the school office know that the family receive the following support;
- income Support
- income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- an income-related employment and support allowance
- support under part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
